Nexans in Deal to Supply 53km of Cabl...

Westermost Rough Ltd, London, and Nexans recently signed an agreement for the delivery and assembly of medium-voltage submarine cables for the Westermost Rough wind farm, which is to be built eight kilometres off the Holderness coast in Yorkshire. The order encompasses around 53 kilometres of submarine cables.


These will be used for connecting the individual wind turbines to each other and to the transformer platform. In addition, a further two kilometres of cable will be delivered for the internal platform cabling. Delivery is scheduled to begin in spring 2013.

General Cable Corporation  expects to report that its North America and Rest of World (ROW) businesses finished the year with a positive operating performance in the fourth quarter, excluding the  impact of certain items. By stocking an extensive PV cable inventory and providing just-in-time service, USAWC aims to reduce lead times and inventory costs for projects throughout the region.

KRW 23 billion) to Dong Energy, a Danish state enterprise and the largest wind power generation company in Europe. Leviton announced the successful testing of its Opt-X® Unity 40G/100G Pre-terminated MTP® Trunk Cables in a 40 GbE channel using multi-vendor core Ethernet switches and QSFP optical transceivers. Alpha Wire's EcoCable and EcoFlex are designed to be up to 65% lighter and 47% smaller, with up to 91% lower outgassing than traditional PVC cable. The two control cables are nonhalogenic and contain no heavy metal pigments, allowing them to meet RoHS and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) requirements.



EcoCable offers space savings of up to 47% compared to traditional PVC control cable. For example, a 22 AWG PVC insulated cable has a diameter of 0.502 inches (12.75mm). The equivalent EcoCable has a diameter of 0.219 inches (5.56mm). Its counterpart EcoFlex offers space savings of up to 32% versus PVC and is rated for up to 1 million flex cycles.
